Q&A    Cast-TV Knowledge Base

Sales and Orders

1. Channel Capacity – Support for 150 Live Feeds
Supporting up to 150 concurrent linear/live channels is within the scope of the Cast-TV architecture.
The first 50 HD ABR channels are included in the current quotation.
For the additional 100 HD ABR channels, the additional recurring OPEX fee.
During onboarding, we will configure the software platform and CDN infrastructure and test the environment using your test M3U/M3U8 feeds.
From your side, we will need stable source/origin feeds for the channels, together with the required stream information, credentials where applicable, and EPG/channel metadata.
The final ingest architecture and resource requirements will be determined according to the source format, bitrate, resolution, redundancy requirements, and whether transcoding is required.

2. ABR & Transcoding Responsibilities
The Cast-TV infrastructure supports live and VOD encoding/transcoding and Adaptive Bitrate (ABR) delivery, including standard OTT formats such as HLS/DASH.
However, we first need to inspect your incoming streams.
If your origin already provides the required profiles, we can ingest and distribute those streams through the CDN without unnecessarily transcoding them again.
If transcoding or creation of multiple ABR profiles is required, we will configure the appropriate workflow as part of the technical architecture during onboarding.
In other words, you do not need to redesign your origin infrastructure before we review the feeds. Send us your test M3U/M3U8 links, and our technical team will evaluate the streams and determine the appropriate workflow.

3. Multi-Platform Applications
The Cast-TV solution is designed as a multi-platform OTT environment supporting:
Web
iOS
Android mobile/tablet
Android TV / Android TV boxes
Samsung Smart TV
LG Smart TV
Each application included in the final quotation will be delivered under your branding, logo, service name, and domain/environment.
During implementation, we configure the applications and connect them to the same CMS/backend, authentication, subscription, and content environment. We will then prepare the applicable production builds.
App Store, Google Play, and Smart TV store publication requirements will also be coordinated with your team during onboarding.

4. MAG555 & B2B Provisioning
The MAG555 is a Google TV device, providing access to the Google Play ecosystem and making it suitable for deployment of the Android/Google TV application.
For B2B deployments using MAG555 set-top boxes, the objective is to centrally manage the relationship between the customer/account, subscription/package, device, and authorization.
The exact provisioning workflow will depend on your B2B business model.
For a larger deployment, we will define the provisioning and authentication process during technical discovery, including:
Device identification
Customer/account association
Activation and deactivation
Subscription/package assignment
Authentication
API or bulk-provisioning requirements, where required
We would therefore like to review your intended MAG555 deployment model before confirming the final provisioning workflow.

5. EPG Automation
The backend supports EPG functionality for linear television.
For your deployment, we can ingest your EPG source, map the EPG channel identifiers to the corresponding live channels, and synchronize the schedule with the platform.
XMLTV can be used as the EPG source, and once the mapping and synchronization process is configured, schedule updates can be automated rather than requiring manual daily EPG entry.
During onboarding, you will provide a sample XMLTV/EPG source together with the M3U/M3U8 feed, allowing us to validate the channel IDs and mapping.

6. CDN & Bandwidth – Pay As You Grow
Correct. Our commercial model is Pay As You Grow, allowing you to start with the required capacity and expand as your active subscriber base grows instead of making a large infrastructure investment from day one.
For the contracted HD service, the CDN infrastructure assigned to your platform will be engineered for the required bitrate, concurrency, and expected peak traffic.
You will therefore not be charged separately based on GB/TB of data traffic within the contracted subscriber/capacity tier. The commercial model scales according to the agreed active-subscriber tiers.
Higher-resolution services, such as 4K, require additional CDN and processing capacity and will therefore be priced separately as an add-on if you decide to introduce 4K service in the future.
The final agreement will clearly document the subscriber tiers and applicable capacity conditions so the commercial model is transparent and there are no unexpected bandwidth or data-traffic charges.

7. What Is Included in the Recurring Monthly OPEX
The recurring platform fee covers the ongoing operation of the contracted Cast-TV environment, including:
CMS/backend platform usage
Hosting of the contracted platform environment
Ongoing platform maintenance
Software updates and platform-level fixes
iOS and Android application maintenance and software updates
Operation of the applications included in your contracted package
Backend connectivity between the supported applications and CMS
Technical support for the Cast-TV platform and CDN
Ongoing maintenance of the agreed integrations
CDN operation according to the capacity and commercial terms defined in the agreement
Third-party costs or services outside the agreed package are not included in the recurring OPEX. These may include, where applicable:
Payment processor transaction fees
App Store / developer account fees
External DRM or licensing costs
Third-party EPG/data services
TV channel/content licensing
Movie/VOD content licensing
Additional infrastructure beyond the contracted capacity
Future 4K processing/delivery requirements
Any such additional costs will be identified and agreed separately rather than being added unexpectedly.
Onboarding & Testing
Once the order is confirmed, we begin the initial setup and integration phase.
During this period, Cast-TV will configure the complete software platform and CDN infrastructure, while your team can begin providing and uploading your VOD content, linear channel feeds, EPG data, and other service information.
We can use your test M3U/M3U8 links immediately during the onboarding window to validate:
Live-channel ingest and playback
Stream quality
ABR/transcoding requirements
EPG mapping and synchronization
CDN delivery
Application playback
Our target is to have the initial environment configured in approximately one month, followed by the testing and acceptance period during which both teams can resolve any integration points before going live.
The objective is to enter production with the applications, CMS, live channels, VOD, EPG, and CDN working together as one fully tested environment.
Once we receive your sample M3U/M3U8 and XMLTV/EPG feeds, our technical team can review them and finalize the integration architecture for the full 160-channel deployment.
